I’m currently in Portals Nous in Mallorca. It’s 35 degrees, hot as hell: I’m acclimatising, for an English bird, but won’t be here long. At the beach, you can get a jet-ski for 10 euros & take yourself to the island off the beach: walk up to the village & pull a right just before the supermarket. The Port is dull: full of gin palace yachts.
Palma is fabulous, get a bus for 3 euros from Portals. Or stay at the Palacio Ca Sa Galesa, in Palma. Even better, get a table at the Hotel Ceorina in Palma. No-one knows it’s there, you have to knock on the door. Sneak in, admire the antiques, then get a table in the fabulous kitchen garden. The waiters are brilliant, the food is modern European. but it’s not expensive. People might be tempted to take a peek at you over the crumbling balconies of the 3 storey house if they weren’t admiring the (genuine) Van Goghs…
