There are some truly amazing sites to see and places to visit when holidaying in the Northern Territory.

There are some truly amazing sites to see and places to visit when holidaying in the Northern Territory. Of course Ayers Rock is one of the most well known attractions, but there are also so many other fascinating things to see and do as well. Once you've booked your accommodation, it's a good idea to make a list of some of the activities you want to do during your stay. Here, we've listed some of the best ones you won't want to miss:

· The Olgas-The Olgas are a group of 36 huge red rock outcrops separated by valleys. The highest of these is Mount Olga which has a height of 546 metres. You can take walks around the gorges and outcrops and also find out about the importance of the formation to the Aboriginal people.

· Kakadu National Park- This amazingly beautiful World Heritage listed park is 260 kilometers east of Darwin. It's a place you must visit when travelling to the Top End. It's bursting with amazing bird life and is 19,000 square kilometres of stunning rainforest's. Give yourself plenty of time to explore the park, it's well worth it.

· Kings Canyon- 230 kilometres south west of Alice Springs off the Stuart highway is Kings Canyon, which is over three hundred feet deep. For the avid hiker, this is a great place to go to enjoy the views from the top of the canyon after a four hour hike.

· Alice Springs-In the centre of Australia is Alice Springs, a bush town backed by the MacDonnell Ranges. It's a mix of culture and traditions and definitely worth a visit. It is truly an amazing site to see such an established town, in the middle of so much sparsely populated land.

· The Simpson Desert- The Simpson Desert boasts some of the very best 4WDriving Australia has to offer. The sand dunes and desert tracks head towards boundless horizons and seem to go on forever. Out in the Simpson Desert, you can experience amazing sites very few people have ventured out to see. The main attractions of the desert are within a day-trips visit from Alice Springs.

· A great way to get better acquainted with the wildlife of the Northern Territory is to take a trip to the Territory Wildlife Park which is located about 60 kilometres south of Darwin. Covering 1000 acres of natural bushland, the park has 6 kilometres of walking trails as well as aviaries, an aquarium, Birds of Prey and a nocturnal house featuring some of Australia's most unique wildlife that can only be seen at night. Kangaroos roam free and there are so many different birds to see, you'll want at least four hours here so you get to see and experience everything the park has to offer.
