Located on the central south pacific coast is Costa Rica's beach-side town of Jaco. I have sen some photos around of crocodiles in rivers on flickr ! Amazingly I find I want to know if they just hang out there and is it dangerous..
As with most places in Costa Rica you are never far away from tours and things to do. Zip-lining for example as seen in the photo. Its also a popular spot for learning to surf, or at least having a go. Its quite well developed for the backpacker and traveller and there are great restaurants and nightclubs and bars to pass the time and meet others.
Carara National Park is a dense forest area known for spotting Scarlet Macaws. There are several cool hostels to stay here you can find them here Cheap Jaco Hostels
