You don't need a bird book to identify this romantic flight of fancy recommended by Express reader Heather Allen... "I have just finished reading a great book called Almost French. This book is written by an Australian, Sarah Turnbull, who fell in love with a French man while she was travelling, which led to her living in France. Unlike other travel books about people learning to live in another culture, Sarah clearly illustrates the difficulties and pleasures of this journey while making you laugh and giving you an insight into the sometimes unfamiliar behaviour of the French. The sometimes awkward mix of french tradition and modern life which is so different from our own, along with the push for Paris to become a modern city while respecting its past. It affirms that how people of other cultures live is not wrong, but just different. A lesson that everyone can learn from! An enjoyable read."
