Spend the day following the historic Apache Trail on a guided true wilderness adventure. It's a perfect day out in the Sonoran Desert.

The Apache Trail links Apache Junction to Globe by way of Theodore Roosevelt Lake. Winding through the Superstition Mountains and the Tonto National Forest, it a magnificent 40 miles (65 km) of steep, twisting and mostly unpaved roads.

You'll pass magnificent scenery including the twisted mountains, dense forests of saguaro and ferocactus and several deep blue lakes. You'll also see Fish Creek Hill, Canyon Lake, Superstition Wilderness and more.

Half-Day Tour:
Ride by van down Arizona's first designated "Historic Highway". The scenic byway was originally used as an Indian route and later became the supply route for one of the first reclamation projects in the U.S. You'll also wind down Fish Creek hill for an unforgettable view of the Superstition Mountain Wilderness, the largest of the mountain ranges surrounding Phoenix. Next you'll reach the old-west style settlement of Tortilla Flat and Goldfield, the ghost town where you'll catch picture-perfect glimpses into Arizona's Wild West!

Upgrade to the Full-Day Tour:
In addition to the stops mentioned above you will also visit the Tonto National Monument where you can see well-preserved cliff dwellings that were occupied during the 13th, 14th, and early 15th centuries. The Tonto National Monument is only included on the full-day tour. You'll also head through 22 miles (35 km)  of Backcountry.
