With a maximum of 8 participants, this intimate small-group day trip from Perth is a great way to explore the Swan Valley at a leisurely pace.
Your day begins with pickup from your centrally located Perth hotel before heading to the first stop of the tour at Caversham Wildlife Park. The park is well- known for its breeding program for native wildlife, and is the only place in Western Australia to have bred endangered cassowaries. At Caversham Wildlife Park you'll get the chance to feed the kangaroos and meet the koalas, as well as other Australian wildlife including Tasmanian devils, wombats and dingoes.
Next, your tour continues deep into the Swan Valley, the oldest wine-growing region in Australia, with vineyards dating back to the 1920's. The region is well known for its world-class fortified wines and has Australia's best selection of sweet dessert wines known as 'stickies'. Due to the Swan Valley's dry, hot climate, the region also produces classic varieties including chenin, blanc, shiraz, chardonnay and verdelho.
You'll stop at a number of lovely vineyards to sample several different varieties produced in the region, before sitting down to a delicious alfresco lunch at one of the wineries. There will also be time to stock up on a few bottles of your favorite wines (additional cost) to take back home.
After lunch you'll make a mouth-watering stop at the Margaret River Chocolate Company. Not only will you see the chocolate being made, you'll enjoy free chocolate tastings! Sweet treats include chocolate-coated fruits and caramels and the Margaret River Chocolate Company's award-winning chocolate-coated ginger.
Returning to Perth you'll be filled not only with wonderful memories of a day in the Swan Valley, but also with some of the best food and wine Australia has to offer.
