Shaolin wisdom, alpine air and a lake the colour of glacier ice: a century-old inn reinvented as a place to find your balance.

Posthotel Achenkirch: Yin, Yang and the Alps
The Reiter family has run this former postal inn on Lake Achensee for more than a century, and turned it into one of Tyrol's first wellness hotels. Today it's an adults-only resort on four hectares, built around the idea of yin and yang. Eastern practices such as Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda sit comfortably beside Tyrolean country-house style, warm lighting and wood-panelled rooms.

Move, then rest
Days can start with yoga, tai chi or qi gong led by a Shaolin master, followed by a TCM treatment. If you'd rather be active, there are tennis courts, a 9-hole golf course and the hotel's own Lipizzaner stables for riding and carriage drives. Afterwards, the 7,000 m² spa has Asian-inspired spaces, a "Sunken Temple" and a two-part Yin Yang outdoor pool.
Food comes from the hotel kitchen and Tenzo, a TCM restaurant that uses produce from the neighbouring farm. Host Karl C. Reiter bases the whole stay on Shaolin philosophy, with the aim of bringing body and mind back into balance.
New for 2026: the Longevity Lab
A 100 m² lab adds science-led biohacking to the mix, with uVida and InBody body analysis, infrared and light therapy, and personal coaching for sleep, energy and mental balance. The hotel already offered biohacking with an in-house coach, which it says was a first in Austria.
