A Private Island Reborn

After a complete rebuild, Fregate Island returns in 2026 as one of the Indian Ocean's most exclusive hideaways. With room for no more than 76 guests, the island offers 14 pool villas and three private estates, including the newly named Owner's Estate.

At its heart is the expanded Plantation House, now home to an open kitchen, a distillery, a boutique, a small museum, a 4D room and what is billed as the largest wine cellar in the Indian Ocean. A high-end spa, sports facilities and a modern yacht club round things out.

Conservation is still central to the island: it has its own farm, runs on solar power and protects a population of more than 3,500 giant tortoises. Photo credits thanks to fregate.com and Mayra

Wellness on the West Crescent

Six Senses makes its UAE debut in 2026 with a LEED-certified retreat on the quiet West Crescent of Palm Jumeirah. The resort has 61 guest rooms and 172 private residences.

Its flowing, wave-like architecture takes its cue from coral reefs and creates plenty of natural shade, while residences look out over the Gulf and the Dubai skyline.

True to the brand, the focus is on holistic wellbeing and sustainability, including support for local environmental initiatives.
