West Bay is pretty much that paradise beach you get on the tv. It is at the western tip of the bay island Roatan situated off the north coast of Honduras.
There are many resorts that are not overly developed and represent a nice controlled development. I hope it keeps that way. You can access a selection of those Honduras Resorts here. It is a popular spot for Italians as it is served by a couple of all inclusive resorts Henry Morgans and TGI s. The diving is very good around Roatan and you will have no problems in selecting a dive shop Roatan Scuba Diving is a good resource on diving in Roatan.
The beach is a very gentle slope and the resorts spray the eggs of the sand flies/fleas so that this isn't a major annoyance. Though not great for the reef perhaps. You can buy anything you will need there and not at a massively hiked up price. There are some volley ball nets towards the end and during Semana Santa the place is what we call heaving !
Many visitors to Roatan arrive by cruiseship and come straight to west bay. Many of west bay visitors will stay in other places like west end or further away still. If you are looking for roatan honduras resorts here is a great list to get you started.
