Marmaris sits in a beautiful natural bay surrounded by forests and with the lovely clear waters of the Agean make it a great holiday area. The town itself has developed hugely over the past few years and offers the visitor most things including a lively nightlife. The marina has two sections, the old and the new. The old marina has the traditional Gulet's moored along the quay and offers a good selection of restaurants for lunch or dinner. Then the new marina with its fancy boats, good quality restaurants and bars is also worth seeking out. Marmaris will apeal to all age goups and families with its long sand beach, lively town with bazar and also offering a great choice of entertainment day or night.
If your looking for something just a little quieter take a look at Icmeler which is situated at the far end of the bay of Marmaris. It is now virtually an extension of Marmaris with just a small area between the resorts that have not had hotel development. Icmeler is perfect if you want Marmaris nightlife on your doorstep but want to enjoy quieter days on the beach. A good selection of accommodation is available in all standards, the resort has a good choice of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops to make your stay here an enjoyable time. The beach is of soft sand and offers good safe swimming in clear waters, at the far end of the beach a fresh water spring runs into the sea making swimming here particularly delightful.
To really get away from the hussle and bussle Turunc is a delightful option and offers a relaxing holiday enviroment. Situated just along the Marmaris peninsula, it has a lovely bay with a sand and shingle beach which looks out across the clear turquise waters of the south Agean. The center of the resort is really just one main street with a number of shops, cafes, bars and a nice selection of restaurants. At the charming quay you can find boats that offer day trips along the coast and around the headland to the resort of Marmaris which is approximately 30 minutes away. Above the resort there are a number of good quality hotels that have fantastic views and offer friendly turkish hospitality.
