Roatan Diving and Go Pro Caribbean is located on the tropical paradise Island of Roatan in the western Caribbean. We are located in the Bay Islands of Honduras. Known as the cheapest place in the world to dive. We are a PADI 5 Star IDC center offering courses from Open Water all the way to Staff Instructor.
The West End of Roatan has managed to keep its Caribbean charm thanks to its size, whilst other parts of the island have been developed quickly targeting cruise ship and short term vacationers, the West End still feels like it hasn't changed in 20 years. The road is still sand, with rickety wooden buildings on one side and beautiful white sand beaches on the other, lazy days off can be spent in the palm covered beach bars with the whole place just a 10 minute walk from one end to the other. Combining this with access to an international airport and many other attractions as well as decent supermarkets in the larger towns at the other end of the Island, Roatan can certainly claim to be the Bay Island which has it all!
Direct Flights from the United States (Houston, Atlanta) and Europe make Coconut Tree Divers the most convenient budget Caribbean destination out there. Also the home to Roatan Tec Team anyone interested in learning Tec diving or becoming a tec instructor need look no further. Our deep walls, perfect year round dive conditions and the deep wreck of the Josie J are a Trimix divers dream. The Divemaster Internships and Instructor development course are taught by experienced Course Director Will Welbourn who is also the Tec Instructor trainer. The IDC is offered every month an IE scheduled in the Bay Islands every month making us both flexible and well practiced ensuring a first time pass for everyone in the last two years.
The Path to becoming a PADI Pro starts with the Open Water course:
Throughout the course, youll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques, through knowledge development instruction in our large, air-conditioned classroom. This knowledge is then applied in the confined water training session, where you begin practicing the skills necessary for for safe diving. Finally, you participate in four open water dives, exploring all the fun and fish our beautiful reef has to offer at a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet.
Followed by the Advanced Open water course:
This certification includes five Adventure Dives, including the Deep Adventure Dive, the Underwater Navigator Adventure Dive, and your choice of three of the following: Digital Underwater Photographer, Wreck Diver, Drift Diver, Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search and Recovery Diver, Underwater Naturalist, Videographer, Boat Diver, Fish ID.
Many people describe the Rescue diver as most enjoyable rewarding course of them all, and is the final step before starting your pro training. You will learn that,
While uncommon, emergencies in scuba diving do occasionally occur. The PADI Rescue Diver course trains you to anticipate and respond to a variety of diving-related emergency scenarios. By shifting the focus from your own personal safety to the general well-being of everyone in the water, you will gain greater confidence in your own diving abilities while developing the mindset necessary to take your first steps towards becoming a PADI Divemaster.
The Divemaster internship is the first step onto the Professional career ladder as a diver:
The PADI Divemaster course that may well change your life as it did for me! PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist PADI instructors with student divers. It is a vital stepping stone along the path to instructor. Your Divemaster internship on Roatan should be one of the best times of your life. Not only because you are doing lots of diving in a beautiful tropical location steps from or on the beach, but because of the awesome array of people you will have the opportunity to meet and work with. Whilst there are naturally serious aspects to the course there is a huge focus on FUN. Since most people dive for fun you need to develop skills that ensure the safety of your divers without taking away the fun.
Following your Divemaster course the best way to find employment is to make the step to instructor, this challenging 10 day course followed by an Instructor Exam with a PADI examiner prepares you to teach all the courses you have taken on your way to this goal.
The goals of the IDC are not limited to teaching candidates how to pass an IE. The IDC emphasizes development, not testing. This produces a low-stress environment that makes learning easier. Candidates can relax and concentrate on skill development, knowing that making mistakes is part of the learning process. During these courses, the staff plays the important role of supporting, guiding and advising candidates. This two phase program, IDC and IE, makes the PADI Instructor development process the most comprehensive and demanding of any in the dive industry. New PADI Instructors must meet the highest standards for learning and performance of any recreational diver certification organization.
Further training is then available to broaden your education and the number of courses you can take, Go Pro Caribbean offers training in many specialty areas including tec diving.
