I wanted to write about the place that saved me from despair as I had voyaged to Grenada on a cheapish flight and was well quite disappointed. But Carriacou with budget accommodation options and a much more manageable logistical size for the transport available made my week. The scuba diving was excellent and you can while away some time exploring the beaches by kayak or have a run in the sun in some gorgeous scenery and underdevelopment. There is a yaught club too and here is the thing its a very sailor type place, many visit by the power of the wind in sail indeed there is a regatta. Grenada itself is not that bad really but for the backpacker there is nothing really to do on a budget though the tours to the centre of the isle are worthwhile. It was dead in the evening as well. Gary Rhodes (RIP) had a restaurant on Grande Anse beach the calabash hotel. That beach is nice, but there is better on Carriacou! I think its possible to do Grenada reasonably with an all inclusive deal otherwise prepare to pay a lot for a hotel. Many come for the diving in particular the Bianca C the largest wreck in the Caribbean, strong currents and being mostly at over 30 m means its hard to dive on air and nitrox is a much better option or tek it out.
